(Please sing the following song that I just now made up to the Dora tune of "We Did It!")
(I know you all know it...)
We did it! We did it! We did it!

YEA! Lo Hicimos!
We did it!
We picked 1000 pumpkins and somehow carved them all.
We did it! We did it! We did it! Yea!
We put them all on planks and set them up in the park.
Yeah, we did it! We did it! We did it!
11,000 people came along the way
Our backs got really sore.
What a BEAUTIFUL day!
Yea! Woo hoo! Yippe!
We did it!
The song says it all, or most of it anyway. The song wasn't long enough to add in a verse about all the pumpkin guts that were all over our clothes for two weeks straight, or all the pumpkin seeds sitting in the fridge waiting to be roasted, or all the meetings and coordinating, all the time away from our families, all the groups who came in and help carve, all the lifting and moving, all the hundreds and hundreds of pounds of pumpkin guts to be disposed of, all the sore lower backs (I officially call my lower back muscle my "pumpkin muscle" now since it always hurts in October). It's no wonder it's such a relief when it is all over and done with, and yet, like a good work out, it is such a feeling of accomplishment. One year I may actually take a picture of all of my committee members, but for now these two are a couple of my favorites. =) (My mom and sister) (I love my brothers that help too, but they are not as photogenic.)

Here are some highlights: Sit back, grab a bowl of popcorn (or pumpkin seeds), and enjoy!

Here's the line to get in. Not quite the 3 1/2 hour wait that was announced in Relief Society (*sigh*), but still lengthy. Thursday averaged 40 minutes, Friday was an 1.5-2 hours, and Saturday was 45 minutes to an hour. The line always stresses me out.
I hate to have people waiting that long.

Cold, tired, and living off of caffeine.
This picture was taken well after midnight on Saturday night.

The two who started it all in their backyard: Grandma and Grandpa. This was the fist year without Grandma (she passed away in February). I miss her most at this time of year. Thank you both for leaving us such a legacy to carry on.

"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
~Henry David Thoreau

It really was a great even Melinda! Thank you so much for organizing such a fun Family event. It is wonderful to have fun events for a family that won't empty your wallet completly when you leave!
I loved this. I miss grandma and grandpa most this time of year! I would love to be there one day. My kids always ask what is the pumpkin walk when I am wearing one of my shirts. can you believe that!
Way cool!! I would have liked to have seen 8-14 more pumpkins. I think a lot of times we settle for what we get when if we had of had 8-14 more, we would look back and say "WOW...can you believe what a difference those 8-14 (fill in noun) make?" But...I guess it is okay. Your blog is awesome, but I would have liked 8-14 more pictures and 8-14 more comments about your sore back (not really...that one doesn't work here).
GREAT JOB as always!!
Awesome post! I loved it. Thanks for all the cool pictures. We wish so much we could be there, but thanks for giving us something to look at instead. Really, we just loved this post.
I don't know what was better about this post...All the pictures or the Dora song you made up! I laughed and sang it all the way through! NICE!!! That one of all of us infront of the sign was awesome! Too bad Brian left early so he culdn't be in that pic! (he was smart) ;-)
It's funny how we all look forward to the pumpkin walk but are so glad when it's over. After the pumpkin walk dad and I were wakling and dad made the coment that it was funny to see all the Halloween things still out it seemed like Halloween was over...."WOW" He may become one of us Pumpkin walkers yet.
This looks like fun! Where was it held! I would like to go to something like that one day! Hope the family is great!
Thank you so much on behalf of our little family, we really appreciated all of the work, and amazing talent that went into the carvings!
We loved the pumpkin walk this year!! We come year after year and it just never gets old. Our favorites were Val's pumpkin characters and signs, your grandma and grandpa pumpkins, all of k.k. pumpkins on the hill, and of course, trying to find the ones that we carved(Connor never did find his this year:(). Thanks for another great year!!
