Two Dressies and a Runner

Let me just start out by saying that as i type this, my "shift" key is sitting on the counter next to me. That's right. it's not even connected to my computer anymore. i will blame the kids, since they have been playing games on my laptop, and because as parents, we can blame kids for just about everything and usually be right. ("Where is my Parker Pen!?!") Anyway...this post is not about my shift key. i was merely informing all of you that any of the letters requiring the use of the left shift key will not be capitalized. There. on with the real post!
Guess what i did all day Thursday? i sat in my sewing dungeon (those of you who have seen it, know why i refer to it as such) and sewed all day. i had a table runner that was due for the YW auction for camp, a new dress i had promised Emma for her graduation, and a Rennasaince (I am aware that i spelled that wrong, but i don't really care right now) costume to sew for Morgan for school the next day. First of all, i would like to thank joann's crafts for having their fabric 40% off just when i needed it, and for having this cute butterfly sparkly fabric that Emma found and was not leaving the store without. So here is the dressie, modeled by my princess Emma. her favorite part is the butterfly applique whose wings still flutter. =) I think i will cry when the day comes when she doesn't want to prance around in my homemade little dressies anymore. They just won't look the same on Cam.
And here we have the lovely morgan displaying the latest Rennaisance attire, a must-have for this season's fashion. She actually had to wear it to school for the whole day as part of her grade. yes, those are curls you see in her hair.
i would also like to thank Wal-mart for being open at 9:30 PM on Thursday evening so that i could go out in my jammie bottoms and sweatshirt and no bra (something i swore i would never do...shopping in my PJs, that is. i don't really care if i'm not wearing a bra at 9:30 PM) and buy ribbons, flowers and pipe cleaners so that i could make the head thingy. isn't is just lovely? i would also like to thank the people of Wal-mart for not caring if i was in my jammies with no bra , since everyone else there was dressed very much the same.
Ah....and here we have the beautiful table runner that i made for the young Women's auction (they were raising money for camp). i found the fabric in St. George and thought it was just (I'm going to say it...) darling! i spent much longer on this blasted project than i care to remember, but not to worry because it sold at the auction for.......$6..... Yup. Six bucks. i'm not offended. Really i'm not. (deep cleansing breath....). And i'm not even going to go into the fact that i spent at least 3 times that amount on fabric alone. it doesn't matter. Really it doesn't. i'm sure that that$6 will be able to help buy a couple bags of chips or something for girls camp. And really it could have been worse. it could have only been $5.

Morgan's turn!

Just wanted to let you all know that the following post has all been done by Morgan. She chose the pictures, the music, and even the books for the bookshelf (make sure and read her reviews!).

Morgan!

Ok, Wendy and Meghann (and everyone else!), here ya go. This is a picture of me and Madison after we got our haircuts and highlights. Let's all give Aunt Wendy a round of applause! Good Job, Wendy! My mom said to please ignore the clutter on the piano behind us.
This is me standing next to the Arizona State Line where I went shooting with my Dad and the monkey- I mean Caleb :). I shot a phone book and a piece of card board. A couple months ago I signed up for West Point Jr. High. I am really excited and nervous to go there in August. My elective classes are; Music, Spanish, and Drama. I am also signing up for Guitar Club and might be trying out for volleyball... and for Meghann's sake, lacrosse.
You guessed it, Cam is in my room watching "Trucks". Actually, it is the movie Cars. But he calls it Trucks. He always says "Uh-Oh, Du Dun!" to me when the cars crash. Du Dun means Morgan in Cam Language. This is his favorite past time, and he watches it every day... at least twice. Don't believe me? Ask my mom.

St. George Trip

Forgive my lack of blogging this week, but we went on our annual family St. George trip. We left on Wednesday afternoon and got back Sunday afternoon. Here is one of the rare moments in the car where they were all smiling. It lasted for about 5.7 seconds. After that, I heard non-stop things like: "I feel like I'm going to throw up." "Stop chewing so loud!" "I need to go to the bathroom right now!" "Is it ok if I just pee my pants in the car?" (Caleb...and yes, it was a serious inquiry.) "How long have we been driving?" "Can we watch a movie?" "Turn up the radio." "Turn down the radio." "Owww! Get off me!" And what trip would be complete without: "Are we there yet?" repeated nonstop at 18 minute intervals for the duration of the trip.
Our best purchase of the trip was a leash for Cam. Yes, that's right. A leash. We forgot our stroller and our backpack, but needed a way to keep a hold of him. We figured he could have 4 feet of freedom, and we would all take turns chasing him around. And "chasing" him is exactly what we did. That boy never walks. He just runs and runs and runs.
St. George is not complete without the water guns. It happens every year and the kids love it. Don't let the swimsuits and the green grass fool you. I was freezing the first 2 days. It was only in the 50s this day.
Notice the size of Emma's gun compared to her bigger brother's.

One of my favorite things about St. George are the red cliffs everywhere. I love the red rocks, the green grass, the blue sky, and the brillant white temple in the middle of it all.
Cam is in absolute heaven here. He is outside, and he has two trucks to play with. What more could a little boy want?
Except for maybe a haircut. =)

I added this picture to see whose kids recognize it first. It's where a scene was filmed from a very popular Disney movie. Hint (although you really don't need one): imagine a bright pink convertable pulling through these gates. Both movies have been filmed right here in Utah. The first in SLC, and the second among the red cliffs of St. George.

Guest Blogger TBA!

As I was showing Mike our blog one day he said to me, "So really it's a 'Melinda Blog' since it's all about you." ....... ("......" roughly translates to something like "I have no idea what to say to that" or sometimes even "I'm too angry to respond to that comment you just made so I will say nothing." It was probably the first in this case.) Anyway, so I decided that to prove him wrong (which I love doing because it doesn't happen very often) I would have one of my (I mean, "our") kids be a guest blogger on occasion. I would let them make an entry, add a photo of their choosing, and even let them select the music and books to have posted for the week. I thought it was a pretty good idea, if I may so myself. Now, how to choose who gets to go first.... Hmm... Maybe I will let the one with the cleanest room. We shall see... (The suspense is killing you all, I know.)
